Merry Christmas

(By Aubree)

You all might think we have fallen off the face of the earth. Nope, we're still here. We've been busy, busy getting ready for "D" day (delivery). We didn't even have time to put up a Christmas tree this year, and I think we might have about 3 small decorations up.

I just want everyone to know we are thinking of you all and want to wish you a Merry Christmas! We obviously slacked on the sending out Christmas cards as well.

Just a quick update. We moved the office stuff to a bedroom downstairs and Jeff painted the nursery light green. We finally bought the crib and dresser/changing table combo yesterday. It will be coming in 3 to 4 weeks, and I have 3 and 1/2 weeks left! Hopefully it will come early. Also, I went to my doctor today and the baby measured at 7 and 1/2 pounds!! Again let me remind you I have 3 and 1/2 weeks left. The baby is most likely going to gain 1/2 pound a week. That puts the ending result, if I carry to 40 weeks, to at least 9 whopping pounds!! My doctor tried to make me feel better by telling me he had just delivered a 11 and 1/2 pounder the other day. Yeah, thanks doc!!

Everything else is going pretty good. We are looking forward to seeing our families the next couple of days. I feel fairly calm and ready for everything, which is quite non-characteristic of me. I guess we'll see how I react when the labor starts!!

Wow, that's a big baby! But don't worry too much Aubree. I remember my doctor said after looking at the ultra-sound that I was going to have about an 8+ pound baby and Jay only ended up being 6 lbs. 11 oz. I think it's actually pretty hard to determine how big they'll be just by measuring the ultra-sound. I'm so excited for you guys! It's coming so soon now. Good luck with everything. I can't wait to see pictures!

You'll be just fine... I had my first at 8lbs 12 oz..and my third one was 8 lbs 15 oz.. delivered just fine. it took longer to recover and longer labor with my first... but if you are planning an eppidural... no worries! I"m excited for you..just remember the nurses take good care of you and you can always ask if you have questions! Your body will just kick in to baby birthing modes you didn't know you were capable of.. oh... and my first came 2 weeks late... I hope your doctor won't make you wait.

Thanks for the nice note you sent. I am so excited for you guys. Sydney was exactly 9lbs. The great thing about big babies is they don't seem as fragile, so Steve was very comfortable holding her from the beginning. Oh yeah and instead of continuing to have bigger babies, my babies have gotten smaller. Izzie was less 6 lbs 14 oz. Good luck! We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers. We really are so excited for you guys!

I also would not worry too much about prenatal measurments because neither of mine were very accurate. Gracie was on the small side, 5 lbs 1 oz and that was worrysome (sp?) for us. Nina was average, 7 lbs 6 oz, and that was such a relief. But with each one we felt comfortable holding them from the start. It's amazing holding your own baby and I know you'll both do great.

Cameron measured 9 or 10 lbs., but was only 7 lbs. 10 oz. so don't sweat it too much. Good luck with delivery. It is all worth it in the end!
